WELCOME TO MY WORLD... My medium is acrylic painting and I am an abstraction addict! I make abstract, non-objective art that is minimalistic or monochromatic at times. I love the chaos and the emotion of abstract art, and respect its power to take visceral hold of the senses.
ON CANVAS AND PAPER. . .
...my process is informed by the interaction of brush strokes, paint values and the intuitive addition and subtraction of graphic elements while I paint. My work often includes a vocabulary that relies on markmaking, texture, smudgy shapes, pencil lines, thinned-down color, and negative space to translate my own imagination and sense of discovery.
I rarely begin with anything particular in mind
except a color or a shape, and a willingness to open myself up
to the creative process.
Each painting is a journey with the opportunity for me
to be present to what is in front of me and to what is inside of me,
and to make art that captures the marrying up of the two
on canvas or paper. I believe art is brought about by this authenticity.
